As I listed to President Obama give a speech at the Harlem children zone when he was running it allowed me to see a different side of the President. He talked about getting the poverty out of the urban areas and putting a hcz in many other city all over the US.
I have gotten a clear understanding that poverty just don't affect the person that is sturggling but it affects the nation. Child care programs are the ones that allows families get the assistance they need.  Many families have a sense of peace to kow that their child will get a health meal while in child care.
It hurts me when one of my babies in my class tells me that I did not eat last cause mommy did not have food and all I had was milk. At that point I go out my way to get food for the family.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts- Part 1

I was a little sadden that I was not able to reach contact with the list we were given, I am going to contact one of my colleagues to get help from them.
In the mean time i was able to about poverty in another country, I read an article from the: http://www.childhoodpoverty.org/). The article was Urban Poverty Childhood Poverty and Social Protection in China.  There was a wealth of information in this written paper I noticed that poverty was mainly in the rural areas that had major concerns, such as health, education.  The main term that stuck out to me was "Intergenerational Poverty" which means to be passed on from generation to generation putting it in short terms.  The article states that there is a large proportion from the urban poor that are willing to work and are capable to work but there is no work for them.

In looking at the Harlem Chidren's Zone newsletter the thing that caught my attention was the fact they are located in Harlem. They also work on get people out of the generation of poverty and low graduation rate.  I know for my self being born and raised in Harlem and seeing how people have a hard trying to feed their families and no one wanted to help anyone out.  It is amazing to see others wanting to help, I believe the say " take a man fishing he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish he will eat eat for a life", all that to say teach those that are in a hard place they will teach someone else.
